Anointing

The Act of Anointing is a Sacrament which has its roots in Scripture, the Letter of James advises all who are sick to go to the "presbyters" (today known as priests) to be prayed over and anointed with oil. Anointing with blessed oil brings a sense of peace, comfort and hope to those who are troubled in body, mind, or spirit.

Anointing can be observed as part of a larger service or can be accomplished privately, as the ailing party desires. If death is expected, the Rector will provide "Last Rites" consisting of anointing, absolution, last communion (viaticum), and commendation of the dying.

If you are hospitalized, please have a friend or family member contact the church. Because of HIPPA, hospitals are not contacting churches, except if expressly asked to do so. We cannot know you are there unless you let us know.
